Generally, the U.S. Forest Service, Pacific Gas and Electric Co., and state and national parks are open from April to October, depending on weather. Those campgrounds at higher elevations usually open in mid-to-late May.
Pets are allowed at all campgrounds.
The U.S. Forest Service campground fees run between $19-25 for a single family campsite. PG&E fees average $20-$25 for a family campsite. Lassen Volcanic National Park fees are $10 to $18. Plumas Eureka State Park campsites are $35 and $7 for extra cars. Senior and off-season discounts are available.
Most of the U.S. Forest Service and Lassen
Volcanic National Park non-group campsites
are on a first-come, first-served basis.
However, reservations can be made (fee charged)
at 877-444-6777 or
at the following campgrounds: Almanor,
Hallsted, Spanish Creek, Red Feather, Running
Deer, Horse Camp, Lakes Basin, Chilcoot and all
campgrounds located in the Lake Davis, Frenchman
Lake and Antelope Lake recreation areas.
Concessionaires reserve roughly half the sites
at these campgrounds, while the other half
remain first-come, first-served. There is a six
person limit per campsite and a $2 fee per pet
per night is charged.
Some PG&E campsites may now be reserved, others are strictly first-come, first-served. Bucks Lake, Lake Almanor and Butt Lake now all have family campsites available for reservations. Links are provided for the campgrounds that accept reservations. Fees vary from $22 to $25 per night. Fee for pets is $2 per night per pet. There is a limit of 6 persons per campsite. Group camps must be reserved. Click on the link provided or call 916-386-5164 for more group camp information.
