Welcome to The Tavern Talk!
Join us at the Taylorsville Tavern in beautiful Taylorsville, CA, for an evening of fun and
conversation hosted by the Mt. Jura Gem and Museum Society. The event is an opportunity to
relax, unwind, and enjoy great storytelling.
While listening to the history of the tavern and surrounding areas, enjoy a complimentary beer
or glass of wine while learn how the property came to be. This is a glimpse into the lives of the
earliest pioneers and includes the lurid tales of the gold camps and the trouble it invited.
The speaker, Jason Freeman, has close ties to the Taylorsville Tavern and Plumas County. His
mother’s family, the Soberos, were some of the earliest settlers in Plumas County. Family
members owned the Taylorsville Tavern back when it was Aldo & Marie’s
Jason is a teacher during the day and a historian and frequent traveler to Plumas County in his
off hours. He has given several Tavern Talks in the Bay Area, including one last June at
Sulphur Springs Ranch.
This is much more than a lecture. The fun part will be during the questions and answers about the
tavern, as well as the audience participation with local stories and legends they have heard.

pioneers of Indian Valley and give you an insight as to why Plumas County and Indian Valley are
so special.
