a vintage gem in the heart of the Feather River Canyon
Located in the heart of Feather River Canyon, on the Feather River Scenic Byway just 28 miles west of Quincy. The town of Belden officially originated in 1905 with the construction of the Western Pacific Railroad. Thanks to its railroad stop, Belden became the base for fishing and hunting excursions and became a thriving township in the early 1900’s.
Prior to the establishment of Belden, the area was populated by gold miners, a few small farmers, and a small Maidu village. Today, it is a hot spot for alternative arts and music festivals. Belden is accessed by a one-lane bridge built in 1937 that crosses the Feather River. It might be one of the world’s most unique bridges with two martini glasses beckoning visitors to stop.
