Lake Almanor Trail Dyer View Trailhead: 40.201784 and -121.135704
If you are not doing the whole trail, the recommended starting point is the Dyer View parking area. This trailhead is recommended because it can be accessed year-round, has paved parking, a restroom, and picnic tables. Potable water is not available. From this point, you can travel either north or south. Much of the trail in this area is right along the west shoreline of Lake Almanor.
The Lake Almanor Recreation Trail is open year-round for hiking and biking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.
Dogs are allowed on leashes. The use of motorized vehicles, including electric bikes, is prohibited. Horses and pack animals are also prohibited.
The trail is paved, with some ups and downs throughout. The overall elevation gain is 1,085 feet. The pavement is rough and has patches of uneven pavement in places.
It is common to see an osprey or bald eagle catching a fish in Lake Almanor. You can also walk to the lake and swim if you wish.
