Spencer Meadow Trail is a designated National Recreation Trail. The trailhead is on the north side of Hwy 36 just before Childs Meadow. This is a great trail early in the season when many trails in Lassen Volcanic National Park are still covered in snow.
The Lassen National Forest manages the trail. Plan ahead; no restrooms or potable water are available at the trailhead or on the trail. This is a multi-use trail; hiking and horseback riding are allowed. Dogs are allowed on leashes.
Canyon Creek Falls is a short distance off the main trail.
The trail offers stunning views of Child’s Meadow. The Dixie fire did come through this area in 2021.
