4th of July Fun Run Chester California

4th of July Fun Run

The Almanor Recreation and Park District’s 44th annual Chester 4th of July Fun Run will occur at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The one-mile run/walk will start on the Collins Pine lawn and proceed down Chester’s historic Main Street to the finish at the Bidwell House. This event is for runners and walkers of all ages. In past years, participants donned costumes such as the six bananas being chased by a gorilla, while others sported stars, stripes, and 4th of July colors. Multi-generational families ran and walked together, some pushing strollers or carrying infants in backpacks. Of course, many canine companions also took part in the mile-long event. Participants receive a commemorative T-shirt (first 400 registrants) and enjoy refreshments at the finish line. After the event, there will be a 4th of July Craft Fair at Chester Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a 4th of July Parade at 11 a.m. on Main Street. The Chester Elks sponsor the Craft Fair, and the Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Parade. Online registration is now open at www.chesterfunrun.com. The cost is $25 ($30 after June 30th), and all proceeds benefit District programs and events and capital improvement projects, with an emphasis on recreation, parks, and trails. For more information about the Almanor Recreation and Park District, visit www.yourarpd.org or call (530) 258-2562. Please join us this year for a great time, and wear your favorite costume or sport your 4th of July colors and bling. Spectators are also welcome! Thanks for your participation and support!
