Coiling is a traditional technique used in basket making, where a foundation material is coiled into shape and then stitched to the previous row. There are many variations in the materials used for the foundation and stitching, as well as the type of stitch, basket shape, and edge details. By using this technique, you can create a sturdy and colorful basket. Additionally, you can feel good about helping to reduce waste by using recycled plastic and fabrics that would otherwise end up in a landfill. This weekend, you will have the opportunity to learn and practice these techniques to create a unique basket.
Materials are included, unless you want to work off your own stash of half-used yarn balls, clean plastic bread bags or produce bags, and fabric remnants (quilters cotton, home decor fabric, old jeans, etc).
Workshop Fee: $325
