Poetry Out Loud

California Poetry Out Loud / Plumas County

Plumas Arts is proud to present California Poetry Out Loud, a countywide youth poetry recital competition that celebrates the power of words, performance, and young voices.

Held at the historic Town Hall Theatre in Quincy, this inspiring event features local high school students performing classic and contemporary poems they have memorized and interpreted—demonstrating poise, confidence, and a deep connection to language.

California Poetry Out Loud is part of a statewide and national initiative designed to foster literary appreciation, strengthen public speaking skills, and help students find their voice through poetry. The winning student will advance to represent Plumas County at the California State Poetry Out Loud Competition in Sacramento.

Hosted by Margaret Elysia Garcia, this meaningful afternoon highlights student creativity, courage, and expression.
