Plumas County eateries celebrate our beautiful autumn season by serving a variety of treats with fall flavors. Whether out leaf-peeping, just driving through, or a local, a taste of pumpkin, pecan, or maple (and more) is a must during the fall season. If you need more than a pick-me-up, many of these locations offer heartier fare, many to-go.

Goodies abound in Quincy with a wide selection of fall treats and offerings. Customers of Quincy Provisions, which include Carey Candy Co., Bell Lane Baked Goods, and Brew Haha, all under one roof, offer a wide variety of seasonal treats to enjoy. Coffee, baked goods, and sweets make it hard to choose just one. The goodies at the counter include an assortment of apples from Caramel to fudge. Each apple is hand-dipped, tastes amazing, and is a piece of artwork. Pumpkin scones to creamy pumpkin pudding are a must to try. Need a warm-up? The seasonal offerings include a Harvest Mocha – white chocolate with pumpkin spice latte and a Maple Brevee – half/half cream with maple flavoring. The location is just a block from the Quincy Courthouse and Dame Shirley Plaza, both great places for seeing fall colors and enjoying a picnic. Grab and Go lunches are available to take or eat in. Need to take some gifts home? Check out the assortment of handmade chocolates, including the famous Plumas County Knot.
Grandma Jane’s Place, another popular eatery on Main Street, has an extensive assortment of bakery items. Make your selection from a few of this season’s treats: spice muffins, orange cranberry muffins and loaves, pumpkin cheesecake, and a rich cinnamon streusel. A delightful place to visit, relax and enjoy a nosh!
Mid-Town Coffee keeps customers returning with three lattes that offer seasonal flavoring. Assortments of fall treats include; are pumpkin spice, butter pecan, and a molasses ginger snap. On Main Street, this place is definitely for the “java-junky.”
Not to be missed is the Feather River Food Co-op on Main Street, which offers a sweet potato walnut scone, a pumpkin cream cheese bar, and apple brie pocket puff pastry. One or all three?
Patti’s Thunder Café has an extensive “in the season” drink menu, including a Spiced Cider Mimosa, a Gingerbread Frappuccino, Pumpkin Pie Spice Latte, Carmel Vanilla Cappuccino, and an Iced Pumpkin Pie Dirty Chai. Patti’s Thunder Café opens early, serving breakfast and lunch with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Need something a little stronger? Get a taste of fall flavors from Quintopia Brewery with their release of Nitro Pub Ale, a dark English mild. Along with the beer, a great selection of eats accompanies this seasonal brew.

Indian Valley is not to be missed during a fall leaf-peeping trip to Plumas County. The area is a wonderful mix of fall colors, barn quilts, and ranch land. Just four miles off Highway 89 is the small community of Taylorsville. Young’s Market is the center of the community and offers Charcuterie Snack Boxes and other delicacies. In the center of the store is an impressive 100-year-plus cash register still in use. Most visitors are in awe of this cash register.
“The Spot” in Greenville, located on Pine Street, is new to the area. This has become the center of activities for Greenville. Valley Grind, the first to open, serves a cold “drinkable” Carmel apple. A blend of apple juice, Carmel, and vanilla syrup with a Carmel foam drizzle. Also, breakfast and lunch items are on the menu if your sweet tooth isn’t calling. Available to go or seat yourself and watch the world go by. Crush-A-Bowl is welcoming the season with a smoked butternut squash soup. You will also find the smoked squash atop some salads. Other food trucks at The Spot have a variety of offerings. . . from burgers to brats to hot dogs, even an outdoor bar. Since it is new to Greenville, you never know what might be happening . . . the “vibe” alone is worth a stop.
A Bite in Chester
Chester has several unique places to stop before heading out for the day or a snack mid-day. Koninkrijk Koffiehuis offers a decadent pastry roll – a light, fluffy dough encasing spicy fresh pumpkin. Known for their European spin on pastries, this is one to try. The Coffee Station keeps it simple but always delicious, offering either a blended pumpkin spice latte or hot or cold chai. Both are on Main Street and can’t be missed.
Are you looking for a more substantial fare? A local favorite is Cravings, which serves a mouth-watering pumpkin waffle or pancake complete with pumpkin seeds and real maple syrup. Add their seasonal Pistachio Latte you will have a great start to your day. Hitting town near lunchtime, try the homemade seasonal clam chowder owner Heath Chase is known for. It is hearty, flavorful, and a seasonal favorite made with fresh clams.
Rusty Chandelier has an old fashion soda fountain serving up shakes and great coffee drinks. They have several different pumpkin-spiced drinks for the fall season to enjoy both cold and hot. After filling up on ice cream, coffee, and pastries, browse the store with a collection of home decor and gift items you will not find anywhere else.
