Chester’s Merchants Night

Tree Lighting, Carols, and Holiday Shopping

For those who grumble that Christmas comes too early or consumerism has overtaken the holiday, they have not experienced Lake Almanor’s Holiday Shopping Tour and Chester’s Merchants Night held the day after Thanksgiving. Local businesses who participate in this festive event call it “a celebration of sharing” for a reason. In addition to showing off their seasonal wares and nicely decorated shops, the true value of this event is the friendship and comradery that fills the inns and stores. All are welcome, even if shopping isn’t your favorite pastime. Come see Santa, the tree lighting, and enjoy Christmas music, mulled wine, and other fun treats. Chester Merchants say “join us at one of our open houses, and we guarantee to show you what the ‘spirit of the season’ is all about.”

Event details: Chester’s Merchants’ Night is Friday, November 24th, in downtown Chester. Festivities begin shortly after the Chester Park tree lighting begins at 4 pm.

Support Plumas County small businesses this holiday season. Winter is a bit slower (and serene) in Plumas County, so these holiday events provide important revenue for the shops, inns, and restaurants that participate. You make a big difference when you visit and celebrate with these merchants! This isn’t consumerism, but a circle of support for what matters most in this rural county–community.

Community Tree Lighting

This year the Community Tree Lighting has been moved to Chester Park and will take place on Merchants Night before the Merchants Night Festivities begin. Community Tree Lighting starts at 4 pm and activities end at 5:30 pm. Come and join us at our 3rd Annual Community Tree Lighting at Chester Park!

Bring family and friends for music, candlelight carols, booths, food and drink. This is a night to come together as a community, share what makes Chester special, and light up the holiday season.
